When you finally have the opportunity to speak to a recruiter or hiring agent, what do you want to ask them? If not, why is the position open? • What happened to the person who previously held this position? • What does the position pay? • Are there any pay or compensation constraints that I should take into consideration? Questions To Ask Hiring Managers When meeting with the hiring manager directly, a job seeker has a great opportunity to learn more about not only the opportunity, the group or department, and the work environment, but also about the hiring manager personally. Here are some questions to consider asking: • What attracted you to working for this organization? • What have you liked most about working here? • Could you describe to me your typical management style and the type of employee who works well with you? • How would you describe the experience of working here? • What are the most important traits you look for in a subordinate? Knowing the right questions to ask at an interview or when speaking to a hiring agent is a common concern for job seekers.
